Live Liver Transplants Update; Well Almost There

Writer's picture: Ron WaltzRon Waltz

Oops, seems we may have gotten a bit out in front of our skis with the last announcement. Before Gigi is fully listed and we can start the search for a live liver donor, there has been a series of tests that have to be completed and we have run into a small complication.

Gigi had passed all required tests to date. But when she was receiving a stress test it was required that her heart rate reach 150BPM ( chemically), and she could only get up to about 119. So the test could not be considere

d conclusive. Bridget and I have a bit of an evolving tradition to add so joy to our hospital visits by selecting a fun restaurant for dinner afterward. So we are out to dinner and the bathroom is 3 flights up. When a girl has to go, well she has to go, 3 flights of stairs or not! When she comes back, she informs me that she checked her Fitbit and her heart rate on the climb got to 128! Gigi : " I wonder if the beta blockers is what caused the complication because I got to 123 naturally?"

COMMUNICATIONS! Never underestimate the importance. So we come to find out we had a breakdown in communications and that she should have stopped the beta blockers 3 days before the stress test. Bummer.

As I write this entry, I am in a quaint coffee shop down the street from University of Chicago and Gigi is undergoing a CCTA or Coronary Computed Tomography Angiography to determine if there has been any narrowing of the arteries.

Next up is a MRI to map out the liver which is on Tuesday June 29. So Journeymen and Journeywomen we are close. We are still very optimistic that she will be listed shortly. We appreciated how many of you have reached out waiting to release our social media juggernaut to find a live liver donor. Keep your prayers and good thoughts for us that that day for release will becoming shortly. Once again, thank you for your support. Questions or comments please feel free to reach out and contact me or a family member..

Love and Peace to you all
