Well, we have run into another setback that has delayed the chemo treatment until after the first of the year. Last week Bridget went into Central DuPage for a routine treatment. She typically has to get a PCR COVID test in advance but wasn't able to. Because they know her so well they said she could come in early and take a rapid COVID test. The nurse came into her room and said your COVID test came back positive. Giant surprise, because she was asymptomatic. She immediately phoned Craig and he also tested positive. Then 5 days later Alana tested positive. As of this update Kieran is still negative.
The good news is that within 24 hours Bridget was at the University of Chicago receiving a Monoclonal Antibodies Treatment. Considering that 2 years ago a common cold caused such serious harm we were all on pins and needles for a few days. But the fact that we caught this so soon and the reaction time was under 24 hours was literally a life saver. Please keep the link below handy, as the FDA has now approved Monoclonal Antibodies for all with COVID. So far, none of them have had severe COVID and have had more cold-like symptoms. The most difficult part is the whole family is in home isolation until Christmas. The kids are normally in school full time so having them home 24/7 is tiring.
As we get closer to a new chemo date we will keep you informed.
Lastly, I got a number of calls for support over a misunderstanding that I had cancer. Confusion came in the fact that the last blog was actually written by Bridget and not me. So, I am fine and it was good to know I am still loved :-)
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all. Thank you for all your support!
